Best Supplement Guide's Review of MHP
Overall Review: 3 out of 5 stars
Good: Great products for bodybuilders
Bad: Limited in product selection; questionable taste of some products
Maximum Human Performance or MHP is a relative newcomer in the supplement world. Although MHP makes quality products, their excellence has been overshadowed by larger companies like BSN and Muscletech. Best Supplement Guide believes that MHP is in the same league as some of the larger manufacturers, and we highly recommend many of their products. Probolic–SR has repeatedly made our list of Best Protein, and Xpel is a fantastic water-loss product (one which I used recently to help me win the Border States Classic Lightweight and Bantamweight Divisions). Other products, which we have tried with great results, are Trac, T-Bomb II, and Up Your Mass! Their newest recovery formula—Dark Matter—appears to have all the protein, creatine and waxy maize to work well, and we’re sure it works for some. The taste, however, is awful. Maybe they’ll reformulate soon and we can recommend the product.
The transparent, blue containers that MHP uses are eerily similar to their rival BSN, but it no doubt helps the aesthetic appeal of the products and makes the brand quite visible. Another aspect of MHP’s visibility is their lead spokesperson, Victor Martinez, who was runner-up at the 2007 Mr. Olympia. Victor is arguably the best bodybuilder today and MHP has done well to recruit him to their side. Given their spokesman, it would appear that MHP is trying to market to bodybuilders and other athletes. They do, however, have a fairly decent multi vitamin—Active Sport—as well as L-Glutamine and Digestive Enzyme formulas that can be used by the average population.
Best Supplement Guide proudly recommends MHP as one of our preferred manufacturers. With high quality supplements, great formulas and a keen sense of what bodybuilders and other athletes need, MHP is an option for anyone looking to improve their endurance, strength and recovery. MHP caters to a niche market and if we were to judge them from a bodybuilding population, they would receive 4 out of 5 stars. But, with such a limited product variety, Best Supplement Guide awards MHP 3 out of 5 Stars.
