FISH OIL OMEGA-3 FATTY ACIDS RESEARCH
There is a multitude of very well done, double blind, placebo controlled studies to examine the benefits of fish oil containing Omega-3 fatty acids. After reviewing as many studies as we could up to the writing of this article, Best Supplement Guide was able to find several studies showing that Omega-3 fatty acids from purified fish oil were significantly beneficial for improving conditions for the following:
RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS
HEART DISEASE PREVENTION
It is important to note that the FDA allows supplements containing fish oil, or it’s active components, to state on their label “Supportive but not conclusive research shows that consumption of EPA and DHA fatty acids may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease.”
We found promising results for the following:
ATTENTION DEFICIT AND HYPERACTIVITY DISORDER
EXERCISE-INDUCED ASTHMA
ANKYLOSING SPONDILITIS
MENSTRUAL PAIN
LUPUS
KIDNEY STONES
SICKLE CELL ANEMIA
Below is a very small and by no means complete sampling of some of the available research on fish oil supplementation. Some of the studies are better than others. We included a sampling of studies with both positive results and those with no significant benefit.
